One of the most effective ways to improve reading skills is to read regularly and often. Kids, teens and adults who read for the joy of it are the best readers. Families who read together provide the strongest model for future reading, and research has shown that children who participate in summer reading programs reap the benefits of greater academic achievement.
Each library customizes its reading program and public librarians work closely with their counterparts in the local schools. By working together, library staff can build a strong support network to raise stronger readers.
We encourage everyone to participate, and support our sponsors and partners.
The Massachusetts Summer Library Program is provided by your local library and the Massachusetts Library System with funding administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, along with many other local sponsors and partners.
